Plan your nursing study with the right checks.
Understand the Diploma, compare clinical learning and check the path to enrolled nurse registration.
Start with the role and the approved program
HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing prepares students for enrolled nursing. The current Release 6 has 25 units: 20 core and five electives. Graduation and practitioner registration are separate decisions.
Make room for clinical learning
An approved program requires at least 400 successfully completed workplace hours, excluding simulation. Ask for the actual placement hours, campus timetable and travel expectations for your course.
Which commitments should you compare first?
Check the exact approved program, then put its campus sessions, workplace blocks and complete written costs beside your work and care commitments. Ask what is confirmed for your intake and what can change. A convenient theory format does not settle placement access or a later registration decision.
What do you need to decide before you enrol?
- What work do I want to do?
Explore work and study pathways - How will study fit my week?
How do I plan work and care around placement? - What will I learn?
How many units will I study? - What should I budget for?
What should I compare before choosing a nursing course? - What else must I check?
Check clinical placement requirements - How do I compare providers?
