How much clinical placement is required?
The ANMAC standard requires at least 400 successfully completed workplace hours, excluding simulation.
What this means for your study decision
ANMAC criterion 3.6 sets at least 400 successfully completed workplace hours. These are workplace hours, not a combined total of placement and simulated practice. A provider may set a higher requirement.
Ask for the number of hours in your particular course and how completion is recorded. Also ask what happens if a placement is interrupted or hours need to be made up; the minimum alone does not describe the full timetable.
What should you compare?
- Minimum 400 hours
- Actual placement hours
- Simulation recorded separately
What remains unconfirmed?
A provider may require more than the minimum
